So what do you think about Phoenix Point being Epic?

An option to redeem it on platform of choice a year after release would be welcome. Not sure if I would use it, but I would give it a thought.

I don’t want to miss out at all, thats the issue here. They have forced consumers into this after we all paid money with a certain set of expectations. I now have to leverage my only power in this industry, my money, against a restrictive business model.

Amen. Epic Fail of a decision. Pun intended.

Oi! We were promised Steam or GoG keys on release, so there 's a broken promise right there. Another company to fall foul of the lie and false promise. What for? A few more grubby little pound notes.

Feel free to boycott the game, but pirating the game makes your rebellion irrelevant. Every excuse is good to not pay for the product you want.

Pressure it enough and it might be possible

Seems as though the general consensus in the replies to this thread is roughly ā€œhell no!ā€, so I’m hopeful someone may yet find themselves compelled to do the right thing and make arrangements to allow FIG backers who opted for Steam or GoG to be grandfathered in. I would even go so far as being willing to wait the full year for my GoG key if it were going to include the DLCs the folks who are ok with Epic are getting.

That said, if Snapshot doesn’t do anything to make this right with backers who still expect to be able to use the distributor of their choice as was originally advertised, I will also be cancelling my pledge, and Snapshot will have one less potential customer to worry about for any future releases.

Gallop did express his desire at one point to support Phoenix Point in a style of Paradox. I am, personally, into it, but that means that the game will get very pricey, very quickly.

I’m sorry. I paid for the product in advance. Then the company decided to alter our deal unilaterally.

I will get a refund and then consider that this company has chosen not offer this product for me in exchange for my money. At that point I reserve the option to excercise options that do not involve money, since my offer (heck, a pre-payment) was not accepted.

Epic store is not an option and never will as long as they buy off exclusives. Period. End of discussion. So no options remain.

I’m not trying to rebel or be political or any of that shit, I just want to play my game without having to use the Epic games launcher.

Whatever lets me do that easiest and simplest, and if that just so happens to hurt the devs then it’s not weighing my conscience any more than this little business move of theirs is hurting theirs.

So simple, really. I’m being forced to use Epic, so unless another game is taking up that slot I’ll let crackers remove it for me instead then so I can play it, /shrug. Probably going to be the case with Rage 2 at this point.

Developers want to push, I’ll get my personal space back however I want, then.

Well… ok. Fair enough.

Original backer with an Early Bird Collectors Edition pledge ($105 on Jun 7, 2017) and this move here totally betrays that support. I expected Steam or GoG both of which are acceptable…Epic is not acceptable and never will be. Now Snapshot and Julian are in the same boat for me as EA is and they will simply never see another dime of my money.
Really disappointed in Julian and hope he rethinks this, regardless I will be requesting my refund to make my point.

Don’t belittle yourself, you SUPPORTED the game and helped make it happen in the first place.

As others I hope at least to get a Steam key after the exclusivity period.

I don“t think all these exclusives are gaining Epic many sympathies, can“t really understand their strategy. They must be giving a lot of their Fortnite money to take games out of other platforms :frowning:

I would understand they wanting to get the games on their store, but taking them from others should be a big no :triumph:

If you are unaware of the security concerns swirling around Epic and TenCent, I have nothing but pity for you. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/nicolenguyen/fortnite-security-vulnerability-epic-games

I very good, yet overlooked, aspect of this debate.

I’m really surprised they can’t just honor existing backers, make it exclusive to new backers. I mean they have our $ already after all.

This feels a lot like a ā€œbait and switchā€ move. I don’t want to support Epic Games. Bad move and it looks like it might have consequences given the reactions I see here.

Anyway, I don’t want anything to do with Epic. Sorry fellas.

Absolutely. Fortnight has been wildly successful, but at it’s heart it’s a giant bait and switch. PVE Coop to PVP, Buy to play to F2P, PC Only to Console, Base Defense to Battle Royale…

I refuse to support any company that makes Bait and Switch the standard.
