Will the game itself benefit from the Epic deal?

No, Epic Games store is not just another launcher. They practically bribe companies to force exclusives to their store, atrocious security, lack of pretty much anything to support the community of a game, not to mention snooping through user files for data from Steam apparently

Despite how much money has been received from epic which will undoubtedly help their development, I feel that they will have to do something special to win back the trust of the community and thus they could potentially lose millions in sales see “tides of numenera” @the end of the day it depends on how good the game ends up.

Trust can’t be regained even with something special. Those whose principles were breached won’t take it. Unfortunately this was the cost of financial stability in this situation. I’m not sure if SG would find other publisher taking out money so easily, but if they would I wonder if backlash would also be so intense.

This is the main issue. I think for the ALL CAPS RAGE backers, it’s not a matter of broken trust, or whatever, but mainly because it has become kewl to hate Epic. And I remember when Steam was first attached to Half-Life 2, there was a similar outrage. And I said it before: the f*cking worst problem of this epic outrage is taking the attention away from the legitimate complaints from the reasonable backers.
