Do you honestly believe that Snapshot will not manipulate the figures to make the decision to go to Epic shine bright.
Snapshot have stated that they can refund all the backers (47,000) and still be in the black when it comes to money. Do you honestly believe that as a backer like me you are valued when you are a numerical figure on a spreadsheet for a healthy bank balance.
This is why Snapshot deserve the backlash and the PR storm because we made their dream come true and they forced us, all of us to choose to compromise our principles and swallow the Epic deal or walk away and that is why I choose to walk away.
Why should anyone have to wait an additional year to play on Steam when their money was good enough to get the project off the ground and help develop the game be told thanks but we do not need your money now refund if you want.
When it comes to installing Epic on my PC that is not an option. Viruses do not exist on my PC.
This is also my dream which will come true, and launcher won’t change it. If I would really have the issue with Epic lanucher when I would patiently wait another year. There are other games to play. And well those are just games after all.
Oh, so now accusation of manipulations in numbers. Ok, I’m done. Think what you want. I will not convince you. You have fixed on that game platform change as if it would be the most important issue in your life right now. I’m bored and I need to take care of my newborn baby, sorry. Discuss with someone else.
Think I might be missing something here, I cannot understand why people feel they have been betrayed by Julian and snapshot games. I myself am a backer, I wanted the game on steam, I can still get the game on steam might have to wait a year but hey ho thats what it is, Im 49 years old I have bigger thing in my life to worry about other than the massive conspiracy snapshot have allegedly sold us all out to. All this just so Julian can take all the money and build an evil lair on the moon and laugh at us all because he is realy in league with the Chinese who want to get access to our bank accounts through epic and send us unlimited amounts of spam. I understand some people are angry and feel betrayed thats your prerogative but say your piece get a refund and leave why keep spouting the same stuff we have heard you now please leave. thanks
We approached Epic about putting Phoenix Point on the Epic store. The idea for an exclusive was entirely Epic’s. We negotiated until we were happy that we had a deal that would help the game at launch and at least a year afterwards, removing any risk that we wouldn’t be able to pay our 55 strong team to work on the game.
Apparently Epic did ask something then. The answer on the AMA did not really make that clear (although I do now see where it was clarified there as well).
If the campaign had been with “We will release this game on an new unknown plattform that will be launched sometime next year” … there would have been alot more scepticism… thats for sure
Julian, I understand your point from a business perspective, but did you during this process stop to ever think about the promises you had already made to your original backers & funders, the customer, and the consumer in this ?
Do you really think “exclusives” will ever be a good thing for the consumer ? I mean, it only takes a quick look at the music, movie & tv industry to know that exclusivity is never a good thing for the consumers/customers.
but was it a promise? as I understand it (and i apologise if i am wrong) that when you back a game on kickstarter or other relevent platforms their is no guarantee or promise as to what the end game will be. there is a proposed idea of what the games company wants but its not a legaly binding contract. I for one havnt signed anything saying this is what I am getting and this is what I am going to get when the game is finished. their is no guarantee that the game will release what then? I think snapshot could have managed the announcement better than they did but I have waited till the dust settled and made an informed decision on the facts that have come out (not on rumours and speculation) and decided that I am happy with the decision they have made even if I have to wait a year to play on steam. At the end of the day there is worse things happening in the world than snapshots announcement.
On a personal note I think Julian has done the right thing to secure his company’s future, if this means we get more phoenix point thats ok in my book.
as I said this is my opinion, poeple wont agree with me and that fine but please be civilised in your replies if your angry and feel betrayed thats fine and i value your input however i will ignore poeple who just want to be toxic is their realy any need?
Some of us who backed the game from the beginning are living in countries where Phoenix Point is region-locked out of Epic, meaning we don’t even get the option of playing it. By agreeing to exclusivity on Epic, Gollop negotiated a deal that is tantamount to theft as far as I’m concerned.
They promised that it would be on Steam or GoG. This was stated in the FAQ, and it was repeatedly answered by Snapshot games when they were asked about where it would be available at launch.
So stop trying to claim that this was not a promise, that is just too stupid.
Obviously you are fine with a chinese owned company having all your details from credit card to address etc… I don’t think everyone else is fine with that because we all know what chinese do with such details. Here in NYC we get dangerous spam mail from chinese amazon providers just because they have our details!
(Yes, EPIC is CHINESE OWNED by one of China’s biggest and most dangerous internet companies!)
