You can load geoscape but not tactical mission. Then the tactical mission freezes randomly halfway so theres no way to get through it. I save the tactical mission half way to prevent that from affecting progress but that save also failed to load. All in all, its a lot of wasted hours. I tried 3 times, all 3 times over 2 hours I encountered the same issue. Wasted me 2 hours of my life.

Also, since we can no longer load mid mission saves. this game becomes an automatic ironman which is something I think most of us here cannot handle.

Just played 3 tactical in a row with geoscape in between with no problems.

It’s sounding like they mean that saving mid-battle and then loading those saves has issues, which I suppose might be seen as a major issue for those prone to constantly saving and reloading every time something you don’t like happens.

But certainly not grounds for telling everyone to not patch and that the game is unplayable and broken under the new patch.

Did you try saving mid mission?

I usually do not save scum but what happens is that after the patch, my tactical mission locks up randomly mid mission too.

I won’t need to do that if the patch don’t cause my game to randomly freeze mid mission.

just had a similar issue, while playing a ‘destroy nest’ mission. I didn’t notice a mind controlling bug.
I had a guy controlled by Siren during alien turn, then during mine, disabled siren’s head and reduced it’s WP to 0. Next alien turn never completed

Left several minutes for aliens turn to complete, but it seemed stuck, had to close the game

EXACTLY. Mine had to do with having sirens in the mission too!

So, I tried again, but this time, I save along the way. Then it happened again, I tried to load the save and it didn’t work. Game is officially broken.

If you have a siren in your nest, then you’re clearly loading a tactical save from before the last patch unless you’ve found another bug with the fix that stops Sirens spawning in nest missions.

Try seeing how things go continuing your game from your last Geoscope save. The game autosaves after each mission (or before ambushes) so there should be one somewhat close to where you last were.

LATEST UPDATE: I decided to give it a try again, loaded the autosave and redeploy the mission and this time round, the mission won’t even load. Has this to do with the fact that it is a living guns DLC mission?

If you’re trying to load a tactical save from BEFORE the patch such as in a nest with a siren or something similar, then try your last geoscope save before reporting “The patch is broken”.

If you’re starting a new mission and you’re seeing Siren’s in your nest missions still, then report that as a new bug in the bug report section. As they shouldn’t be present in nest missions anymore.

Could well be in that case as I have n’t got that tech yet.

I decided to try again, loading the autosave and then deploying into the mission again. This time round, the mission won’t even load and gets stuck at loading… Seems like this patch conflicts big time with Living Guns DLC…

@Tikigod that tactical mission was started after the patch.

It wasn’t the first set of destroy nest missions though, goal was to destroy a spawnery. Exact mission name was “attack pandoran lair”. Ennemies i saw before crash were : arthron, siren, triton, chiron, worm.

I found the log fles, and saved the one with the hung mission if that can help (forum won’t allow to upload non images it seems)

Started a new game after the patch and it now keeps locking up in missions. Nothing to do with living guns.

BUT

WHY do you hate close combat so much ? Does it really need to be pointed out that unavoidable damage is as bad of a design as it can possibly get ? You are forced to play the Sniper Meta Status Quo or go 100% stealth cheese. This change made it worse for anyone deviating from the default path to victory.

I mean if there really need to be a defense ability in the game that ignores Action Points and Will Cost and therefore exists outside of time and space (hint: there is no such need) then at least make it so that melee does not trigger return fire. At least this way melee weapons from the Berserker has some use.

Daze is not reliable enough.
