How Do You Do Mutations

I have captured at least 5 Scyllas and as far as I know I have bupkiss. I try to interact with Alien containment but I only get the usual stupid prompt to destroy it cut off power, etc. How do I convert these stupid aliens into mutagen!??

Also I have built the mutagen lab.

in personnel, click on the containment tab and then on the skull to covert them to mutagen
