Guys, quick question… have you ever had a situation when a grenade from grenade launcher damaged your soldier standing 4-5 tiles away from possible damage zone?
A mortar would be cool. What about mines? Maybe the scout could place mines or even spider mines, an alien gets within range and it chases them and blows up.
Not with my soldiers, but with Crabmen yes, it happens. I usually consider the damage area bigger than the red one, and I interpret it as the shock wave from the explosion. I don’t dislike this effect.
Yea, great idea. The explosions draw in extra enemies to the fight. I would MUCH rather this idea, than making something stupid happening. Like a missile going off course and killing a friendly. That sort of crap being totally out of your control and causing a squad wipe is infuriating. A squad wipe that is your own fault or you could’ve avoided because of your own poor tactics, is how it should be.
Yes, now I am using the firecats all the time, it happens quite often. You need to leave about 3-4 squares OUTSIDE the blast radius, unless behind cover. I kinda like it TBH, it is like there is a shrapnel radius and a blast radius.

yeah,… just think about and Ironman with random rockets!
thank you for your shrapnel idea… it’s brilliant! and makes sense. I will be more careful.
I too, have seen this. I have seen my soldiers get hit or have their cover shredded if they are too close to the zone. I believed it was this shrapnel effect also. It makes sense that the explosion won’t be stopping exactly at a 3 meter radius or whatever. It has made me a little more cautious about using them in proximity to my people.
I believe I saw another thread about this. Better go have a look.
