Than its not a rating but a mere feeling
A Rating is nothing which could be changed in a few weeks, besides from ratings like āwe deliver Multiplayer laterā and than reviews get changed based on later delivered stuff.
Thatās why I said, threads like this are just fanboy ratings, which does not help people getting a real view on anything.
Without the 10/10 Rating in the Topic Titel it would be a diffrent thing.
As said, I have so much fun with Skyrim and DA:I that I spent thousand (or in DA hundreds) of hours in it, based on FUN these Games are Amazing for me, but they are far away from beeing even an 8/10 due to the lack of things other Games have. Does this make them BAD Games? But it does make them not THE BEST Games ever Developed, which 10/10 Games should be.
Thatās why I said, if you Rate Games this way, always put in your schemes or points based on which you rated it. Still they might be different from others, but they can see on which points your Rating is done. So you might not be able to compare Rating vs. Rating, but you can see if these Points are important for you.
Minus the pure RNG on Missions.
Minus the pure RNG on Enemy Spawns.
Minus the pure RNG on Location Spawns.
Minus the missing of Haven Defender AI.
and suddenlyā¦
After the first few hours I thought the same - good buy, will be Fun for WEEKS. Than the RNG strikes over and over and now after 15h I dropped the Game because the Fun is gone. Missions spawn on the other side of the Map. Enemys spawn in unreachable locations. PP Bases spawn so close to each other that there is no room for new Bases in other parts of the World.
As long as this is not sorted outā¦ why waste my time on it?
Correct and since I played anotgher 25min on a new game to test something, besides I dropped, so?
I said several times that I do NOT dislike the game. I like the Game for what it wants to be, I just dont like what it is in its current state. It could be MUCH better than it is and I browse this forum initial due to find out if its just me or if its others as well and now to read and share thoughts about the Game, as I care for what it might evovle to.
EDIT:
Also Iām not eager to start any Game at the moment, as Mechwarrior 5 will be āreadyā soonā¦ so everything else I start today would never be finished in the near futureā¦ as long as MC5 is no letdown as wellā¦
Yea this is one of my biggest gripes as well. Especially when combined with return fire. There does not seem to be a way to avoid it, ever except spamming nades on every single enemy with a gun across the map.
I am having a blast though despite all those small nuisances. All those naysayers can suck it !
If the game exploded we would all be covered in a pungent green slime the fragrance of great classics of time gone by. 10/10 I say, and may you all disagree with me. I donāt care Iām loving it, give me more.
I do believe the game has the potential to be a 10/10, but this last release got me so p*ssed off because of those extra loading times. New game, loading, first POI, loading, win battle, loading.
Well, almostā¦ maybe just 9.5/10 - itād missed a couple of features that Iād hoped it would have, but I sank well over 1,000 hours of play-time into Chaos Reborn, so in terms of value for money itās a 10/10.
Phoenix Point; I donāt think Iāve given it 10 hours yet, Iām actually finding the experience of playing the game to be quite painful as it stands.
I think what Iām most surprised about is that CR was such a tight, well balanced game in terms of itās tactical battles (even during most of development), that I canāt believe how PP is so far away from being the same.
As someone who abandoned the playthrough, in favor of XCOM1-Long War I would be grateful if you could elaborate on the subject of depth.
What made me bounce off PP is that I didnāt find depth to speak of - I found little to no choice in how I want to build and equip my soldiers, and little choice in terms of decisions on the battlefield - looks for a spot with the least armor and attack it - if armor is to high shred it - then attack. Strategic layer felt empty as well, and thatās a shame, as it is the part of the game, which I think there is the most space left for improvement. I didnāt get terribly far into the game (10-15h in) so itās possible the game gets much more complex then what I played. However, I did get vanilla XCOM syndrome - not enough tools to be able to make a decision - while enemies did became much more though, they didnāt really shake up my strategies. On top of that, an inconsistant Line of Sight made it impossible to really make informed decisions - most of my gameplay revolved around stumbling through the game, and trying to find the spot where I can shoot at targets. Most of my deaths, I would blame on not having line of sight when I expected/were told I will have one.
I did enjoy my time with it, but just didnāt see depth in it, to warrant 2nd playthrough - therefore decided to wait for the 1st playthrough to be as good, as it can be.
I am not writing to disagree, just would like to hear more about your experience, after playing the game for far longer, and saw far more content (enemies, weapons, items etc.)
I could roll up my meaning of depth into a one liner. You are free to attack, defend, pursue at your discretion, the battlefield is yours to do as you please.
Xcom-1 You knew were the aliens where and where they would come from. Your tactics were rationed because of timers or the AI doing a number on you. If you played a map, it would play out nearly the exact same way every time. In short there was no real freedom. Xcom-2 improved on this but only marginally.
As for content and magic powers I am the sort of person that likes to find different ways to use the tools I am given. We are the underdogs but we prevail though cunning and not magic missiles.
I didnāt really know what you wanted to hear so I just threw a few things in the pot.
I based the 10/10 on how Ifeel about the game haha As I said, I FEEL Like its the Dark Souls of tactical combat. If youve played DS youāll know about the bugs, seemingly impossible (at first) difficulty spikes and different, wonky controls. All the same, id give DS a 10/10 also
I didnt expect this to blow like it did, its good to see other peoples opinions and feed back on the game. I started playing games back in 92-94, rocked Freddy Fish and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and never looked back. I missed out on Xcom 1 but put about 800 hours into Xcom 2.
I feel like this is a modern day classic. I play nearly all games and have noticed a trend in newer games beingā¦idk, soulless? They feel like a cold, uncaring AI pumps them out on a factory line or something where as this feels like people have put their heart into it, if that makes sense? Ive noticed most newer games being extreamly easy and handholdy, also, but this gives you a quick rundown on what to do and tosses you into it head firstā¦It seriously reminds me of something from the 90ās but with WAyyy better graphics/sound and in game choices.
Sorry to hear some of you arnt enjoying it. I would suggest holding off until they figure out some of the bugs and give it another go but I know I plan on continuing forward. Im on my second Playthrough now and feel like I should of ramped up the difficulty because every mission is a cakewalk now that I sort of know what im doing. Its looking like that 100% enemy hitrate is gone from my new game so I dont know if the game got a hotfix or something overnight because I have yet to have any toes, fingers, elbows shot off from the other side of the map
My first game I figured theres no need to play diplomat and only sided with Anu, stealing everyone elses research. No wonder it took me 68 hours to beat it >.<
You know what itās like? You canāt really describe what it is that lets a game getās itās hooks into you, it just does. And when you try to tell others about the why, it has very little impact on them.
@Thilog
The only thing about your post that upsets me is that you dont like the sfx so much! My god, man!! That syren āClick, Clackā is the stuff of nightmares. It sounds like a crab walking on tile or something, like something sharp and stabby is getting closer to stab you with its sharps.
Idk, I also love the Tritonās constant swearing at you. Its unsettling, hilarious and totally satisfying once you get them and they shout out a dieing āFahhhhhk Euuuuhhhh!ā
I guess its just a serious opinion difference but the sound quality is one of my favorite things about Phoenix Point Gotta keep the game cranked to really enjoy it.
To be fair though, this isnāt a beta or an MMO, itās a single-player strategy game. Apart from patching bugs, the gameās release day is supposed to be the āfat lady singsā moment
Buying a supposedly finished game and taking a seat to wait for it to be balanced and finalized isnāt ideal, imho. I say āfinalizedā because whilst you might be ecstatic with everything except the bugs, there are a lot of people, myself included, who feel the game needs actual re-working done to various parts of it :S
Yeah, I always find it funny when people love the parts of a game that are simply background decoration. Yeah, those bits can enhance a games feel, but itās still a game first and foremost and itās the gameplay that matters most.
Itās like when people buy a violent shooter or a 3rd person action game that revolves mainly around combat and then say, āMeh, didnāt like the story and the characters didnāt engage meā
If im getting a singleplayer game I mainly care about the story, violent shooter or not. The whole reason I started playing online games like Halo, CoD, Gears of War, GTAV, ect were because the story. The Elder Scrolls/Fallout series are based on combat but if they looked like crap and had a terrible story noone would play them and all of those games had some pretty horrible gameplay.
Or did I miss your point?
Idk man, unless people are having bugs that make you CTD every time you do something this isnt bad as is. Im on my second run and this is easy, just got to race for AP weapons/Stun Snipers and laugh your way to victory. Theres quite a few quality of life improvements I wouldnāt mind seeing but its not like the games actually unplayable.
Once you get the hang of it the game is pretty smooth and what I once thought were impossible difficulty spikes were ingame heads up to get better weapons, just make sure to always get more recruits and dont be afraid to have guys die.
That Reload bug still screws me up but its not a game killer. You get unlimited mission Reloads so if it happens you can always reload and try again, hope it dosent happen, if the loss of one or two guys is a mission killer then you wernt prepared for that mission anywayā¦god damn ambushes As for the enemys having 100% accuracy, you just got to be really smart about your placement.
From what ive been reading, Easy is still way too hard. It would be cool if they put in an actual Easy mode so people can mess around and not get totally dominated at every turn and corner but yeah, if the games not your style then its not your style.
Edit: about the difficulty, Im only on normal and it can get dicey. Just got to go for AP weapons asap.
this thread is a disasterā¦ OP was just saying he likes the game, and yaāll pervert the thread into a philosophical debate about the quality of rating systems lol
