Training Centers suggestion

So you do it yourself but you don’t like it?

I’d say, who finished a campaign without training centers?

The player that use 1 training center at max is ok, I’ll even admit 1 training center per PP base is enough different.

Then second major question, how many soldiers used in combats not just in base defense?

Any difficult level apply, answers would highlight better this approach.

EDIT:
Moreover I’ll had no stuff you think exploit, and I include build Mutog and stop build right before end to defend a PP base.

The reason is OP goles can break too much a campaign, and I don’t make a list but for Mutog exploit because I think it’s up to player to evaluate it, a player with lower skills won’t use the same evaluation than a player with high skills and experience.

Whats the point of building management if you have to make own rules how to proceed???

First walkthrough, Heroic, not finished yet.
7 bases so far, 5 training facilities (1 per base).
30 soldiers, use two teams of 8 soldiers all the time, others are my backup and startup for future teams.

Player options, but I won’t struggle on that more.

But currently this whole thread is arguing in empty air and it’s weird because you can already not use any Training center or just one per base. Not all people here played LW2 even less finished any campaign of it so have an experience of really building a big roster.

Correct.
My first playtrough was on veteran and I user only 1 training center per base. After I lost half of the first team I was forced to quit.
My second playtrough was on easy and I used what I could, OP combos, 3 training centers in main base, done one mission with 100% stealth infiltrator only etc. Some OP combos were ok, but some were ridiculous. I still used 5+ soldiers in base garrisons and haven’t used more than two priests on a mission.
Now I am waiting for the game to be fixed a bit to try hero difficulty.

You should try Legend, it’s game current best setup in my opinion, don’t worry no need of any OP holes, for training centers I don’t care I like.

I considered that option but I don’t want to start new game until devs are playing around with nerfing and balancing.

even Legend is easy if you dont do scavenging hunts… those are mainly responsible for Pandorans to get upgraded quickly spiking the difficulty… if you ignore these, and only do the heaven defense/lair assaults + story missions, you will still gain a lot of experience, but Pandorans wont upgrade that quickly therefore you would be able to progress the game further…

I had suspected scavenging responsible of a bad exaggerated sudden spike in first part of a campaign, I’m not sure it’s the real cause anymore.

Legend isn’t easy it’s just the best gameplay setup, hire recruits but tech without equipment is just a better design, costs feel more coherent, the global counter feel more coherent, more and yes the difficulty scaling feel more smooth, not easier.

The Legend specific problems: If you can’t work not too late on relationships it’s a significant handicap coming from pure RNG. Scavenging missions become worthless even sooner or just for playing a different combats. Human enemies seem even weaker past first parts of a campaign, not totally sure but I think. Overall Legend is just better, but I stick think it’s hardly a good advice for a total newbie to the game.

for relations with other humans, all you need to do is to never fight in their inter-wars… you only lose if you do… let them fight each other, you handle Pandorians. Every Nest gives you +5, every Lair +10 to relationship with everybody… so getting to 50 with all of them is relatively fast. then you benefit from their research, and game gets easier…

Wait lairs/citadels is slow, let them attack and defend won’t change wars negative global relationship effects. Skip wars but not to get more resources, and not to get quite different combats but there’s a scaling problem currently and perhaps a bit more at Legend. Just do lairs and citadels to work on relationship in hurry is meaning shortage of resources. It can be a good point, but never always.

But for sure if they are boring, you can skip, and focus on lairs and defenses against aliens.

there are plenty of resources to get from random encounters (not scavenging missions), researching Pandorans, and story missions… I did trade in the beginning, but now, i’m sitting on a pile of resources and have nothing to use them for…

No resource problem? Ok, I’m surprised but ok. I suppose you delay a second team afterward, I tend rush to two planes (no steal) and two teams, but I’ll admit there’s no necessity and it’s a point I feel a bit weird in the game.

Well it’s not working or there’s a trick, you can’t only do story missions and factions missions, and nest/lair/citadel because those last reveal only after a successful defense.

There’s the research allowing find them with scan, but it’s later game.

That idea to get only positive increase to relationships doesn’t work for defenses. But for sure wars can be ignored if there’s no resource problem, they only bring global relationship decrease. Sometimes it’s the way you want, but sometimes only.
