Just what I was thinking - The game ran like pig back then, but that initial BB1 mission was actually a whole heap of fun!
There’s a difference between a player being ‘the problem’ vs a player doing something wrong.
Early on, I was making the mistake of not reloading weapons before taking soldiers into a new mission. The game was really not helping, I had no way of knowing that I had to manually reload every gun from the inventory, (I even got to the point of reloading in he field before shooting that last crabman), but I wouldn’t say that I was the problem as the player - it was either the game not sign posting that need, or me not having yet learnt that aspect of the game’s systems yet depending on which way you want to look at things.
When I asked a mate why I was starting missions with no ammo he told me that I was ‘doing something wrong’, and he explained how to reload via the inventory. I pretty much face-palmed.
To me personally, there’s nothing wrong with doing something wrong, it’s how we all as humans learn. Though I do think people can get too hung up over what is considered right or wrong, and the unfair stigma that can be attached to wrongness.
That’s my point exactly. I learned early on many things not to do “wrong” from reading this forum. Others I learned as I went along. At least your mate was kind enough to let you know what you were doing wrong, instead of just say “you’re doing it all wrong” and then leave it at that. We should all be helping each other out on how to not do the wrong things. That’s what this community can do best.
We were only trying to help!
We’ve all been there. At some point in this game, we’ve all gone: “Sirens, WTF?!!!?!!!” And at that point you do what you quickly learn to do in the first 1 or 2 missions of this game: you zoom your targeting reticle in on each location of the new beasty and you find out which one you have to take out in order to stop the Nasty from being nasty to you - because if there is one constant in this game, it’s that: every thing a Nasty does is somehow linked to a location.
I also learned by trial and error that if I left click on a Nasty and look at its info screen, it will tell me what weapons and abilities it has, and where they are located.
But wait, no, I shouldn’t tell you this, because apparently sharing my experiences with you in an effort to help is acting like a ‘disingenuous power-gaming jerk’.
Well, I’ve got news for you son. There’s only one person behaving like a jerk in this conversation, and it ain’t me.
Feel free to reply how you like cos I ain’t gonna read it. I only engage with people on this forum who don’t behave like petulant children.
Yes, exactly. Instead of that though, we get constant arguement from certain members. My guess is that this is the ‘fanboyism’ that I’ve read about, in the context of attempted legitimate criticism of new Star Wars films being shot down by a toxic community that is unable to accept that what they like isn’t perfect. Something similar to that may be going on here in the minds of some of these people. I notice that they claim not to be power gamers but have knowledge beyond what the game tells itself them and seem to know all the broken combos, so I strongly suspect they are not being honest. Back on the game itself though, Snapshot need to think about how the UI can communicate these aspects of the system and how the game has to be played back to the player, because many players will never check these forums for help (and if they do, they’ll likely be discouraged by the hostility shown by certain regular forum members and give the game up forever - I endure it because I’m a backer, but if I wasn’t, believe me, I wouldn’t put up with this level of arrogance and I seriously doubt many people would).
I am not under interrogation here. I don’t refuse to reflect anything, I just pointed out that what you’ve said isn’t relevant to what I’ve said.
Fallback and wait till you can focus fire on her or have a space to Dash+Move+Rally+Shotgun? Have a Priest if you struggle with MC? Take Armadillo with you? Sacrifice a soldier but take her down (still better than loosing two or entire team)? You’re making up situations just to prove saying wrong is wrong by definition because of I don’t know, Heisenberg uncertainty, statistics or something. And you don’t care about constructive explanation because you’ll torpedo them anyway with a new imaginary obstacles. I made the mistake of going into argument with you once again, but I assure you I will not make it again. Don’t bother with answering, because I won’t.
PS. I’ll stop using word “wrong”. I’ll use term “you can do better” or I’ll figure out something else that sounds pleasant.
