To be honest, that “cannon” makes no sense from a technology point of view. First of all, the proportion of the caliber to barrel length is more like a carronade from a 16th century. It fires non-explosive round therefore it’s a purely kinetic or shaped charge round, which raises the question why it works like that? Shaped charges are very efficient even at low velocity, aka rpgs or recoiless rifles. In case of being a kinematic round, you achieve greater effect by raising speed of the projectiles, not the caliber.
The only reason to hold it as low as that would be a recoil, not the mass of the gun itself. But a pneumatic stock would have much better effect than a simple “lever action”.
