Rapid Clearance Bug?

I have tried to use this skill multiple times and have 100% missed with the reticle full of enemy every time. I think its bugged.

what class?

A heavy with an assault secondary using a Hell Cannon.

I have had the same issue with an assault after activating rapid clearance, though I think the bug is not related to rapid clearance. I am also missing 100% hits without rapid clearance. The most obvious one is standing next to an egg with a shot gun aiming in the middle of the egg and shooting over it.

My solution is just to reload the game and try another sequence of actions until the 100% hits are actually hits, but yes it is annoying, because sometimes I have to reload more than 5 times and the game loading is also buggy, so I may have to kill and relaunch the program.

Tell me, are you noticing your soldiers missing these shots re-entering firing stance between you telling them to shoot and firing?

I’m pretty sure most instances of missing 100% shots (at least in my personal experience for me) come from the initial shot angle changing when the soldier animates again resulting in moving the origin point of the shot, an alien continuing in their animation and “dodging” a shot, or even the target flinching from being shot and dodging a shot or two in a burst.

This can be frustrating when going for tactically critical shots (which most shots you make into 100% shots tend to be).

Not so for the 100% hits on eggs

That’s why I said most. Although it could still hold true if it’s a case of being too close and the origin point being changed. Instead of aiming dead center mass and the scatter of the burst going around the center into the egg as the UI indicated: your soldier stands again (after you’ve aimed), raises the gun to shoulder height and is suddenly aiming either at the edge of the egg scattering onto the ground a little or at some point in the background missing entirely.

Having footage to review could help to see if it’s a hard bug of shots passing through targets they shouldn’t or a quirk (or bug) of the combined animations and the ballistics system.

The shot lined up has no right to miss at all but, because the Arthron flinches when shot, the very last shot in the burst goes under the left arm, above the leg, into the wall, and misses.

In this case only two of what should have been all shots hit the target because the origin point is recalculated and most of the burst just goes above the leg.

I think its a problem with the Hel Cannon. I’ve missed close range shots at 100% before ;-;
