Dual classes Overpower

I had difficulty in understand that video… i never used Scyter in my campaigns… that is a mix of infiltrator and heavy with scyter? How it can kill a Cyclops and almost a Scylla…

It is sad to see so many overpowers and fantasy arcade modes on this game… this is a game for childreen, not for who wants to play a deep strategy and tactics game and it appears that is not priority for devs to correct this.

Besides that, i did not recognise the armour that player use? Is the synedrion assault one?

Nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn’t buy it tho. I like my strategy games and turning novices who are terrible into super-teams who crush things. That is my enjoyment.

YMMV.

That´s why we need second wave options and easy/story level should be different from legendary. Each player choose what kind of game wants to play. Fantasy crab crusher or Deep strategy/tactic game.

Well, you may be misunderstanding me.

I also like to play the hardest difficulties in games, once I have learnt the games. I am a veteran of the old XCOM defence and Apocalypse games from way back when, and of the modern XCOM games from Firaxis, as well as Xenonauts. I don’t want a trivial strategy game.

I also do not want hugely overpowered skills. There are a lot of balance issues which I think we would to at least some extent agree on.

But once it becomes an issue of endurance rather than fun, I am out.

This is why right now I am running Phoenix Point in Legend mode, but with the AssortedAdjustments and SelectedClassTraits mods from NexusMods, to make my team gain powe more quickly and shorten the game. It is still a challenge at the start, but by the end, the sense of progress is palpable.

As ever, to each their own.

Freedom can hurt if you don’t know how to use it, be happy if the game offers you the possibility to decide HOW you want to play your game. Dual Class is not a MUST but an OPTION, you can use it or not, it’s up to you and as long as the PLAYER has the choice, everyone benefits. If only hardcore players are in first place then everything is OP, sure.

Also, may I ask if you have ever completed the game in Hardcore Mode? I’m not so sure.

I love dual class, but i agree if some player doesnt want to, that’s their call, not like it affects me in the slightest what another player does.

I do not know what you mean by “hardcore mode”. I do not play PP without mods (After the first time) because I find it boring and tedious. Now I play with mods, I am enjoying it.

But I am now playihg my first game in Legend difficulty mode. But some players here would call my game “easy” because of the mods I use. I really don’t care about that of course.

It was an assault / infiltrator used super duper bionic which gives you 1 AP reduction for every melee attack, so it’s a „Must have“ torso for every melee build and makes every other torso obsolete for this build.

I didn’t know about that item either.

But I have always considered melee in this game both OP and anti-thematic. We all have our own self-restrictions. I may love Dual Class soldiers, but I don’t use melee builds or melee weapons (and I never recruit beserkers), so this won’t affect my game.

However, this item sounds even more OP…

Thank you… and what about that shining effect in the soldier? Is the Synedrion armour?

This is the Vanish ability of the Infiltrator, which makes him almost completely invisible during the players turn and only mist clouds would reveal him. The effect ends with the players turn, so in the AI turn he is back to normal visibility.

Thank you, i guess i did not explored yet the full potential of infiltrator class.

That is the overpower vídeo king!!!

I can´t understand how there are people that defend this.
Some OPs dual combo break the game…

Devs MUST correct this.

Well, this is so bad that i had to ask directly to them:

How is this possible??? Dual Classes Overpower combos destroy game. | Voters | Phoenix Point

The thing is, you can take the greatest masterpiece from a game and put some OP game breaking stuff in there. I bet: there will be fans for that too. There are countless preferences and so you always meet “some” taste.

The only question is: was that on purpose? What is the goal? Did you want to build a crab crash simulator or a tactical game?

Right now it’s kind of both … but in a very confusing way. In the beginning it is pure tactic and is absolutely captivating. If you play successfully and use everything that the game offers, the game suddenly mutates into something completely different, a cleaning simulator with click around. Well: Anyone who wants to play the cleaning simulator, but unfortunately doesn’t have good player skills, will never achieve this (whole LotA stuff, skill combos, certain individual skills, or equipment such as bionic torso with -1AP reduction or the new 1AP grenade launcher + Boom Blast, or, or …). He cries himself out because everything is too difficult and wonders what people are talking about when they talk about “OP” skills. He doesn’t even get there!

Both fill up misunderstood.

I want a tactical game and that´s why i bought Phoenix Point… the spiritual sucessor of XCOM Ufo Defense from 1994.

I started a request.

@walan It is not the intention of Devs to remove these combos , LotA weapons or Vengeance Torso, I can tell you this, they think all those super powers/weapons are fun and players enjoy it, so we have our self restrictions (increasing them more and more) and just that

Ok, but then this game shouldn’t called „tactics“, more fantasy „something“. Then everyone know what to expect and don’t feel misunderstood :man_shrugging:

It is basically still a turn based tactics game even when it doesn’t fit our (maybe high?) expectations of a challenge, just saying :man_shrugging:

We need a long breath, their agenda is still DLCs first with also a bit bugfixing and then … maybe … or maybe not … we will see …

Only max. the first half and then it is something else. A hybrid
