Every time I’m about to start a mission, and at a few other times, the screen will turn black and I have to hit the escape key to proceed. It usually happens at places I’d expect a report such as a pre battle info dump or some such.
Another one I remember is when completing research, when I would expect a cutscene or info dump, I get a black screen which I need to use escape to clear.

Is this the same problem mentioned in this thread:
Take a look there and see if any of the proposed fixes help.
Issue was resolved by running the game from the folder in administrator mode.
