This is a mirror post I did on Reddit on a small idea for improving loadout management that I also wanted to share here.
One of the most important things for improving loadout management is to make simple things automatic and leave player interaction just for making actual changes in the loadout.
The game already does a great job automatically refilling all used ammunition in the guns, which is great, but it could be taken further by doing the same with backpack magazines. This can be done with the current mechanics by making reloads not remove the magazine from the backpack, but just emptying it instead, and after every mission, they get refilled the same way the weapons get refilled. This would also help in the tactical gameplay since reloading when you still have bullets would leave the partially loaded magazine in your backpack in case you need it later.
