Weird scavenging mission after variety change

First scavenging mission (not inside mist) on old savefile after patch had 14 perfectly identical Arthrons spawning around one area. I’m not sure if this is a bug, but this has never happened to me before, so it happening for the first time after the patch that is supposed to increase enemy variety seemed like it might be an error.

My last 15 or so scavenging sites had at least 2 enemy types relatively evenly spread, most of the time with different loadouts between the types. They would also usually spawn in somewhat different locations across the map, almost like in a pod system.
