Very informative. Perhaps I need to reconsider my resources allocations and Snapshot the Food Processing Plants!
I think you misunderstood me… I have bases all over the world, I know about this tactic and I’m still building my 2nd squad, alas… NO HD mission has occurred for NJ anywhere, nor any for SYN in far havens that were revealed. And I had only ONE for Anu far away, that I couldn’t get to in time (it was in mid-late january). In fact, I was just able to get the first one for SYN in North America.
To get them before, I would’ve had to have both the 2nd team AND another aircraft to reveal ‘?’ sites in other regions very early. I could’ve de-prioritized about 3 or 4 bases to be able to do that, but I don’t think this tactic should be mandatory.
There needs to be more rules for some things that happen near you at the beginning, specially in lower difficulties. There’s another good topic about this:
On another note, I also feel very pressured to do things quickly in the game, because every time I complete an objective, I get the next one. There’s no time without anything to do like in the original x-com, so you can focus on your interests. I’m at the beginning of february and the pandorans already have citadels, although I’ve only seen 2 nests.
I’ve already explored half of the world also and as I’m going into the Americas now, I know I’ll finish it quickly.
I’ve a ticket on canny about slowing down the main story pace, but I also feel that exploration needs to be expanded. There’s a new ticket on canny where the poster suggested that we get scavenging sites from automatic vehicle exploration and I find it a great idea:

This. I was so busy with alll those missions throwing over me, I did not even steal an aircraft to send it for “?”… LoA DLC is another game inside with tons of things to do, and mostly unnecessary and boring as we all agree.
I am a long player too. I am against timers. This makes me stress. The bar is good but I should able to overcome pandora too. I need to able to make something to save havens I like. Giving food to them, support them… same time they can do that to me too. It could be at late game like when it’s lower then %50… Maybe I hate ANU and I want them dead and I should able to do that somehow.
And the resources are very low. Recruiting and fitting them with default gear is even mess. PP bases should have some basic gear or weapons. More then for 5 people at least. So at least my recruits should able to have their default armor and weapons. It’s realy annoying to give them anything and I don’t want to do that when I can use those low resources for necessary and cool stuff for my main team.
TLDR
- bullets/batteries are better to have so don’t spend on expensive toys that go kaboom
- LOOT EVERYTHING and scrap stuff you don’t want
- get approval from the fungus lovers i.e disciples of anu to increase food production for what is not the worst trade deal in the history of ever
- protect the hopeless faction havens for they give goodies in return
- try to maximize benefits for you while minimizing costs like a rapacious corporation
- prioritize research options that give resources
- pandorans are delicious
- do not rush thing
