Weapon malfunction instead of weapon damage?

No, weapons getting destroyed; is complete crap; its super super annoying, boring and game breaking.
You play a mission a handfull of turns later a random enemy lobs a random bomb at ya; break a gun or two and the mission is super likely to fail; oh crap. So reload? might not have enough soilders/resources to get more or the game is over. So reload it is; it happens again…a bit of yelling a range quit incomming…

One more time and well, its likely that a lot of people will just say f***-it and quit and go play world of whatever instead.

There is no counter? research explosive safe weapons? carry around a handfull of extra weapons in various backpacks? yeah thats exaclly how any military unit works…have a couple of extra assault rifles in everyones backpack incase someone throws a handgrenade at you and it will just destroy the weapon…Im sure that happens alot…

Its a bad mechanic that isnt really something that happens in “reality” .

It breaks immersion to hafto carry around tons of extra weapons if get handgrenades throw at you.

OR the need to save the game each turn? so that one can compensate for bad luck?

Really how cool a feature can sound like its of less relevance when it has the option to kill a mission based on a random roll!

what needs to happen is the weapon gets smacked around, spend a turn to fix it; might be harder to hit stuff or the range gets reduced; but turning your soilders defenceless/usless at a turn of a dice its just bad game design and WILL make the a nightmare to play, not in a difficult way; just so annoying and boring that people will NOT be bothered to play something that sucks in that way.

I know thats a bit hard core, but think of it. Some of you hardcore people might be ok with it; I would not. And you can be fairly sure that someone after trying a mission a handfull of times and getting their weapons destroyed over and over again, will just quit and do something less annoying/boring/furstrating
