I moved into the inventory section of the Squad Roster from the geoscape with all soldiers healed. As I moved items around and created them, inventories stopped matching soldier names and the model displayed to the right.
This seems to have something to do with swapping clothing.
Edit: The Engineer skin will not show without pants equipped. It just does not load a new model.
I tried to recreate that and I failed. I have tried to put Technician’s armour on any other class, with and without leg armour and nothing was wrong all soldiers were matching inventory and their model. You had to trigger some specific combination of items to crash that.
Error report: Must wear pants to duplicate error.
