I would remove double damage from stealth outside of melee. I does not make sense, bullet don’t go faster when you can’t see them. Maybe limit being undetected to Vanish skill. Limit Rapid clearance to just few enemies. Seriously Assault/Infiltrator is the most deadly combo out there. If enemies form a proper conga line (they are in clusters within 1 or 2 dashes from each other) you can kill them all in first turn with one guy. That includes Chirons since their head is not armored and on Hard they rarely get past 700 HP.
I love the fact that this game is based on soldier skills I just would like them to be better balanced.
The Nina, XCOM2 or perhaps more Long War 2 could chain like 6 kills it never made it a game breaking feature. It’s more purely Stealth that broke any possibility of balance. But on another way, Nina is fine in a gambling game, in PP, I would just ignore the gambling possibility.
Exactly! Both XCOM 2 and LW2 had mechanics that balanced each other out. Player had to outsmart the enemy not outcheese them.
So we agree the game can let the powerful actions or combos, just find some good way to tune them, and adapt the whole well enough to different difficulty levels.
I suppose there are now cheessy let’s play, I mean the campaign, any link? I’d be curious to see a campaign blow out in a quick rush and basic tactics.
I don’t really watch Lest’s Plays that much so I don’t know if there is something like that. I base it on my own experience and I am not exactly the most cunning tactician. I may start a new campaign on Legend and try to cheese through it. Although recording it would probably take few weeks.
I mean an existing let’s play, if the OP holes are easy to apply constantly, there should be some let’s play showing it.
For Rage Burst perhaps ammo need be more expensive, to avoid abuse through an elegant way.
EDIT: I used the 5 training facilties some player feel like OP hole, each time a soldier die, I fail see where the op hole is.
EDIT: Yeah I use Rage Burst, but combat are very fun so I don’t see why remove it. Full team with Rage Burst hardly solve well all problems from my experience of the game.
No, please, not ammo.
For those who cheese less we potentially go through more ammo.
Never played JA1? I never seen as fun ammo management. Take care of it can improve a lot such combats.
No, never tried. Need to see what people are talking about since some have come up with it in some discussions.
Mmm probably more JA2. I mean specifically JA1, less complex but better gameplay fluidity, and no shops so ammo management is a thing.
They are not OP just by themselves. Getting soldiers to level 7 (where all the best skills are) in couple days without any kind of risk is OP. I was still struggling when I had my ‘A’ team maxed while every other soldier were barely level 4. With 5 Training centers I made another 4 ‘A’ teams in no time. And more good teams you have more resources you get. So more equipment, more buildings, more soldiers and so on.
Rage Burst is easily fixed in my experience. Simply limit it to machine-guns. I am doing this as a matter of course in my playthrough, and it means that you have to find ways of luring the likes of Scylla into effective range of your Heavy and ambush her, rather than taking her out in 1-shot from the other side of the map.
This then leads to all sorts of tactically interesting challenges - How do I stop her from Alerting before I have the Ambush in place? How do I take out her Scream, so that she doesn’t daze my Heavy at the wrong moment? How do I keep my Heavy alive and with 2 arms intact until I can get her into range (since I don’t Rally Cheese Jet-Jump either)? Once she’s down, do I have an Overwatch screen in place to deal with all those Fraggers she’s about to fart?
All of this makes the game much more interesting and challenging without completely removing the satisfaction of gunning down the bitch with 1 shot when I’m ready. In fact, I’d say it’s much more satisfying doing it this way than it is 1-shotting her from halfway across the map.
I don’t know what game you play but not the one I play.
Firstly hire 4 teams is an eternity, at least at Easy it is, all the equipment must be buy, it seems you use naked teams, it’s a bit an exploit.
850XP, 5 training facilities, 85H, close to 4 days, and this is an eternity in this game. And this is after the hiring hardly 6 or five soldiers at once, or naked but this is an exploit.

Don’t bother it actually doesn’t. One of the big changes in Long War 2 compared to original game is addition of many more classes and the way how perks are distributed. It’s extremely difficult to get OP combinations because:
- Abilities overall where toned down and rebalanced
- Some abilities are available only if you have specific weapon/equipment
- There two major branches of specialization for each class + general perks
You can find a hundred of different guides on different classes builds and non of them is going to brake your game or make one build 300% more efficient than another. It’s a matter of not making a gimped build, but even those guys can be still useful.
There are even simple limits like not able to throw two grenades by the same character in two turns, many actions now have a cooldown. A big portion of the mod is removal of “perfect builds” that are rampant in a base game.
Like I said in my earlier posts, game can be challenging at first but once you have this first team to level 7 you can blast through missions and scavenging sites and then grabbing second team is a breeze. With two teams you repeat the process twice as fast.
I played Long War 2, failed finish a campaign after 100H, not because I lost, but because I had no knowledge to rush what is supposed to be very long.
Ninja looks OP, it isn’t because of pods awakeking, problem of close range, and death. That’s XCOM mechanism, I enjoy PP get rid of it, LW2 didn’t.
The major difference in LW2 is no way the skills, it is multi team at same time, with an infiltration system linked to how big is a team and how hard will be the mission, it found a way to setup a global lite strategy game I won’t extend here.
For me it isn’t better than XCOM2 just different and with an astute mechanism, but I found stealth missions boring, and was bored to have to limit so often team size or get an insane hard mission. Also micromanagement of equipement was tedious, unlike in PP, the reason is PP offer a lot more true choices.

Which solve nothing of what I quote, it’s not scavenging missions that will equip your 4 teams or even one. Common.
EDIT:
We don’t argue on the same game, play at Easy with forced buy of equipement and you’ll see. But your point is with naked teams at best.
At Easy it’s less bizarre because you don’t hire first, have them level up the time to equip them. First you lost time to buy them and then wait an eternity to have them level up.
I don’t exactly understand what you are trying to say. On Easy when you hire a soldier they come already equipped for the same price. So it is easier to play. I just started easy campaign just to check the differences and got a sniper from Synedrion with their sniper rifle and Assault from Anu with an Iconoclast. That is a huge boost and makes campaign and especially recruitment incredibly easy. So how is that we play different game? I play on Hero(Hard) and if they come equipped with some shitty pistol I consider myself lucky. I have to spend more resources to produce equipment. In such situation grabbing (easy campaign) second team and rushing training centers is a matter of 5-6 missions and a couple of research projects. On easy you can have second team at level 7 within 10 days of beginning.
EDIT: Fixes to clarify my statement.
Easy: You collect 500 material, x food, 100 tech, then you hire, then you start level up.
Legendary: You collect x food, then you hire, the soldier level up the time to collect 500 material and food and build the items.
Legendary with naked teams: You collect x food, then you hire
What’s the easiest on that point of view, like i said Easy has a ton of bonus beside that. But for recruiting, and even more with naked teams, Easy is disfavored. You are even forced to buy more equipment than at Normal, when you replace a dead you already have this equipment, or almost.
