Making use of the natural animalistic instincts of enemies

I’m just thinking that it’s be nice if some of the ways in which the AI’s troops acted and reacted within the game were based on the animalistic instincts of the animals which they have mutated from. For example:

Mutated dog creatures - I think it’d be cool if they patrolled the unseen areas of the map in packs rather than individually. Once spotting a player soldier they would call out to the rest of the pack, and if the player ordered the soldier to stand their ground the dog creatures would work as a group to surround and attack that soldier. Whereas if the player decided to try retreating with that soldier then the dog creatures would come on full pace, making use of their instinct to chase down prey.
