Extremely disappointed, but still hopeful

Bring her on! And give us flamethrowers.

Thank you for the clean and clear answer.

Some things I do like. Crates appear empty. Next time there is something to go for.

Too bad, 4+ months was not enough to fix Queens-Armadillo interactions.

I know it is introduced so we can practice limb and armor shots more then on poor crab people, trying to take over the world once again after TFD lobster man and South Park Is Gay

But, its a fine example you can do more in house testing.

Such videos (showing big bugs) kind of hurt the image of game, as well as player experience.

So, hope moves to BB4.

As I said, totally get your point. Just pointing out that sometimes, there’s good reasons to keep code in even when you know it doesn’t work well. UV did point out another problem, being that when you add a new feature, there’s a high chance of new bugs, and 2 months is not much time to implement AND squash bugs in new stuff.

As you’ve said before, too many big name games launch these days filled with bugs (Hello, Bethesda). Every bug we see in BB is a bug being caught early. Look at BB more as us having access to internal QA builds.

That said, you have your own viewpoint, and that’s fine. I understand your position, and we just land on different sides of it. Given that we’re unlikely to change the other’s mindset, I think we’re better off just leaving it on the table. It’s obvious that you are passionate about great games, and that’s worth more to most of us to see than whether you’re 100% behind how the BBs arrive in our hands.

I didn’t say that the issues in BB2 wouldn’t be fixed. Just saying that there might be new ones.

It really sounded like you dont care - because direct answer to my Q was “Unlikely”
Hope new bugs wont be pathfinding. Ruins the thrill, really.

Also crabmen “teleportation” - hope that can be fixed. Enemies in Laser Squad style do not appear out of blue

I dont mind covering backfire from both sides. That is kind of - team work >:-)

I expect Armadilo and Queen to be bug free in BB3

Unlikely. The Queen will have some new abilities which will most likely introduce some more bugs.

Keep up the good work, criticism is intended towards seeing what is gameplay priority.

If you are indeed fixing it - just let us know. Silence is devils friend.

Not at all. I care very much. Please don’t put words into my mouth.

What I was saying is that you will continue to see bugs in Backer Builds. Even if bugs from previous builds do get fixed along the way, the addition of new content is likely to introduce new bugs.

Take one down, patch it around
117 little bugs in the code

All jokes aside, these builds are still cleaner than most, if not all, internal alphas I’ve tried over the years. this makes sense though. Backers are still customers and still have to receive something remotely playable without 5 pages of warnings, do’s and don’ts. Your own colleagues, on the other hand, can be “treated” with roomfuls of untextured stuff and placeholders and are supposed to see the potential greatness of whatever you’re developing

“Unlikely” was the word.

Surely, new feats mean new bugs - but we are speaking of old.

Happy wishes for bug squash with “Yellow submarine”

Wait, the Armadillo actually works?? When I played through BB2 I could select it but couldn’t actually do anything with it so I just moved on. Given that the strat of destroying the pincers and letting the Queen bleed to death still works with her being unable to do anything I wonder just how much easier the maps got with a functioning Armadillo.

You have to put at least one of your squad inside it to drive it. There’s an entry point at the back, and if you move a soldier there, they will have the ability to enter it (they can still be selected and you can make them leave it too). The Armadillo can actually carry all 4 squad members. Anyone in the Armadillo when it gets destroyed is killed.

Lol well crap, time to try it out next time I get on my laptop!

That back entrance got me for a while, I kept trying to move in from the sides.

I knew I’d have to get in it, just took me a while to realize it wasn’t an either/or of right clicking or finding the new ui button Ala new xcom doors.

The difference is colossal. You can win map easily with just Armadillo and it’s ram ability. It’s like Heavy from BB 1.2 on steroids.

@other guys.
So you didn’t watch any announcement about Backers Build 2 or any video on youtube with it. I knew how to enter vehicle before I even installed BB 2.

I can say I didn’t watch anything. I got the email, installed, tried out the new unit and noticed I could click on the Armadillo, and then moved on as to not burn myself out. Made sure to beat the mission, but that only required a single playthrough.

Armadillo made BB trivial, but then I wasn’t exactly planning to spend hours on the same mission again and again.

What I’m wondering is how will its movement look in the final build. There was a proof of concept gif with vehicles moving around at high speed and drifting when they turn, whereas BB armadillo was doing a standard tiled movement, so I don’t know if they ditched the cool looking move or just didn’t have it implemented in BB.

My bad, coders tune is this

Yellow Subroutine

In the town where I was born,
Lived a man, who played with ‘C’.
And he coded his whole life
On a stack of Function Keys.

So we traced to his data schemes,
Til we found a ‘C’ routine…
And we lived beneath the SAVES,
In our yellow Sub-Routine…

Chorus:
WE ALL live in A YELLOW SUB-ROUTINE,
YELLOW SUB-ROUTINE, YELLOW SUB-ROUTINE … (ETC)

When our friends are on the boards,
Many MODEMS RETURN NEXT:FOR
Then the BAUD RATE goes astray…
(B-B-BEEP, BEEP BEEP B-B-BEEP…)

Chorus (IF YOU CAN STAND IT!)

As we live in Memories
Every one of us Returns Linefeeds…
CPU and ‘C’ Routine,
In our yellow SUB-Routine…

Heh, when I got BB2 (my first time playing) I fired it up thinking “I’ve played these games before, I’ll be fine”.

Got wrecked.

Then I read attached guide a few times and it went much easier. Repeated rams to the Queen’s face/claws proved most beneficial. It was also really exhilarating remembering that when the 'dillo dies so does everyone inside, so after trading a few claw whacks and rams with the Queen my assault pilot dramatically bailed out and wasted the Queen’s escort. Nicely enough she ignored the almost wrecked vehicle (and my possibly out of range assault) and proceeded into my turret/rocket/nade trap set up inside the, by this time, cleared out fort.

Can’t wait for more missions like this with this awesome (at least to me) emergent storytelling
