Given the nature of the ballistic model, sometimes it makes more sense to take a diagonal position behind a piece of cover. I wouldn’t mind seeing soldiers end in a crouch when in any square adjacent to a piece of cover, not just the directly facing squares.
For that matter, it would make sense for every move to end in a crouch whether there is cover or not.
