Backers Build 5 feedback

I think that the game might have bugged when I bashed my own guy, or when he returned fire, because I needed 3 bashes to get the bugger out.

I should have checked HPs by targeting him. I think he reset to his unattached HPs, but I could be wrong.

Edit: This gets more complex because the sniper hit the alien once with his pistol over-watch, before being face-hugged.

is this where i leave bugs?

Errors Im seeing

After completing an action, like shooting or moving mouse visualy disapeers but is still logically there. If i move the mouse around i can see the results of an item being selected with cursor (i,e it highlights) but the cursor doesnt appear on screen. Cursor sometimes re-appears after pressing escape a number of times.

quick save (f5) and manual saves sometimes not appearing in load game. If i change the name of the save it it 9/10 times will save.

(geoscape) After completing a mission mouse cursor disappers but is still logically there. If i move the mouse around i can see the results of an item being selected with cursor (i,e it highlights) but the cursor doesnt appear on screen I have found no action that will return the cursor.

(geoscape) If i save the game when there is no cursor on the screen (via wildly moving the mouse till the right things highlight) Then load that game, all the current progress is lost to before the last tactical map i loaded. But all the objects will appear to be in the location that they were when i saved it.

you can also report bugs in game by opening the bug reporter by hitting F12

Got the game yesterday so i dont know the differences with previous builds BB5 is the only one i tried.

Being an XCOM LW veteran i found combat fairly easy, in normal difficulty, at least compared with LW where i had my arse served back on a platter many times in the first two game weeks even if i finished vanilla game at highest difficulty.

Played a few missions; some very easy but the last one where i first met tritons was really fun; luckily i had a guy with a grenade launcher, i cleared flat the building where the last two tritons where hidden invisible and won the mission. I’m not sure how in hell will i rebuild all the grenades i used, i’ll think about it in a bit when i finish posting and restart playing.

I found the heavy soldier absolutely useless before i finished making the grenade launcher and gave it to him; he has a nice jetpack and can fly where he wants but he’s unable to hit an elephant from 5 meters and giving him a pistol didnt change much because half the times he forgot to load it or to remove safety and his spread, compared to the sniper’s one, is really huge so it’s not the cannon it’s the man that should be cooking pizza and not fighting aliens in a top class fightiong unit

The sniper instead is OP like it was in XCOM; after a few mission he was level 5 with a nice lot of skills, having done half the team kills, while the poor heavy was still level one. Maybe when he starts using guided missiles and plasma MGs he will become a killing machine too, but ATM it’s very hard to level him unless you give him a grenade launcher that could be used by assault troopers too BTW

There are a few things i havent understood and probably missed in the tutorial pdf:

1- I have seen an alien enter my chopper and disappear; maybe it wasnt my chopper, but it was an orange rectangle with some arrows. There was no fight when i finished the mission so i guess it wasnt but dunno what it is.

2- there are some orange skulls in the map; my educated guess was they are spawning points. I spent a few turns with my guys guarding it in OW but nothing happened

3- There are some big red tanks that seem to say: wait for an alien nearby, shoot me and KABOOM. I havent found a way to target them tho, next time i’ll try a grenade

4- I managed to recruit a few guys; now i have the base full 8/8 and there are just a couple more spots where to build so i’m a bit afraid to build another barrack because i’m sure that if i do i will soon research a tech that will allow me to build the super weapon that needs a specific room to be built and this space is used by my second barrack and second storage.

5- I finished exploring the area i was able to scan; now i have a couple nests to do, probably my next missions, then what can i do? I dont feel confortable sending the chopper outside the no return zone hoping to find another phoenix base.
Running out of gas 3000 km from my base with my squad inside my only chopper isnt the way i want to finish my campaign. Maybe inside the nest i will find the megascanner that will allow me to see further but ATM i feel a bit stuck

enemy can escape map in this zone just as you, they don’t enter your dropship

those are enemy spawn, but if there is small number of enemies, they will be all on the map, I think, so nothing will show up there

I’m not sure if they explode but you can manually aim with projectile weapons when you activate “Fire” ability and then click crosshire to the right of “Fire Weapon” button. You aim then just with moving your mouse. And left mouse button confirm fire.

Build second living quarters. You will need them. Super building (if there are any) can be build in next bases.

Actually you can’t send troopers to the “no return zone” If you can send them, then there is always possibility to come back. If you want to move further then move your Manticore to the most outlying point discovered on the map and use satellite scan ability again. It has limited range and can be used after some cooldown.

Thanks

Havent started the nest yet because i realized that i’m out of ammo with one of my snipers; he was recruited with a nice gauss rifle but i finished gauss ammo and i dont have the tech to build them. I’m reasonably confident that i will find a super alien inside and i want to have two snipers and a lot of ammo before going in.
So i can activate a satellite scan from the dropship, will try that ASAP when aliens stop attacking friends bases every couple hours.

SUGGESTION FOR DEVELOPERS (If it’s not here where to post it i will repost in the right spot)

Make the inventory management more manageable. Having to mouseover every ammo pack to see if they are the ones i need is REALLY annoying. I know you have to manage console players too, but i’m a PC player i want an inventory LIST and i also want to able to hotkey almost everything i do more than once every day i play, cannot even quicksave quickload, and i dont want R for reload, too near to the E to rotate the screen and reloading an almost full magazine when you are face to face with a nasty alien instead of shooting it is no fun.
If you cannot do that i hope the game will be moddable and some good soul will make an inventory mod the day after release like in Skyrim and Fallout

When you have weapon in “Ready” slot then there is “Ammo+” button. When you click it will resupply your soldier’s inventory with proper ammo (just watch out for resources, because if there is not enough ammo in base storage it will produce additional magazines for standard cost).

I know that, but if you have found a rifle and some ammo you cannot produce the button is disabled and anyway i think you have to admit that there are a lot of better ways to make an inventory
