Aha! I didn’t check this one out before but decided to give it a quick look and loving what I see so far. Thanks for the recommendation. Might be giving this game another go before I expected to.
Hah some looks more like your wishes for game options / mods, rather than currently used restrictions. But overall good ideas and may be used for great fun. Especially that “Role-play your ideology”.
Yes, I have to say AA goes some way in the direction I’d love SG to take with Second Wave Options.
As well as the various QoL fixes to the UI, it allows you to set a whole load of parameters to suit your particular playstyle - speed, hp and size (number of slots taken up) by vehicles, max. number of Squaddies you can deploy, starting setup parameters and a whole lot more.
It’s clearly aimed at what I’d call the ‘casual’ market, as most of the defaults are set to make the game easier, but each can be reset to make it more challenging - and in that way everyone gets the level of game that they want.
If SG doesn’t do it with SWOs, I’d encourage the likes of Mad Modder and Sheepy to give us more of these, allowing us to make the game harder or easier to suit our personal playstyles.
AA is pretty fantastic and inspired me to try to learn how to mod. Both reinvigorating my interest in this game and somewhat diminishing my petulance.
If you have time to tweak all the values, then yes it can be refreshing. Unfortunately I don’t have it much so I’m afraid to look into modding of Phoenix Point at this moment. Patches come too often, which means they could break my work, and it would need to be done and tested again each time. I will wait for the game content to be complete, then I will mod it.
