The Deceptor machine gun is awful

The heavy weapons are all situational, the GL being the most useful one when in open space. So, my heavies always carry all three to be useful.

The heavy long-range weapon is the mounted laser one (which is too good from the videos I see), but in my current game I reached the end game missions way before I could reach this tech. Granted, I had bad luck and didn’t do the best known strategy to reach it. Stil… that’s why I like the idea of a broader PX tech tree, it would enable different playstyles even if you didn’t reach some faction tech. It’s not for everything, just the limiting gameplay factors like having any heavy mid/long range choices.

The Destiny III (Edit: the mounted laser) is not the only pinpoint accuracy weapon for a Heavy. The Archangel RL has the same ER of 999 and hit on point where you aim, with normal free aim(!). It deals 100 damage and shreds 30 armor. In my opinion the most accurate ‘sniper’ weapon with free aim in the game. Boom Blast works also with it, so you can shoot twice per turn.
You want to get the head of this Siren on the other side of the map disabled and have no Destiny? Archangel does the job. Edit: Of course, NJ tech …

But yeah, some more choices from PP without to go with faction tech would be nice. I can only agree on that.

Sadly, I never got to use either the Destiny III or the Archangel RL. I’ve unlocked the Destiny in the past but not used it, and I don’t remember if I’ve ever unlocked the Archangel.

Why? Using grande launchers with Boom blast is good. Flying to elevated positions and then firing rockets is also. Cannon is also good early game, yet usefull even later. Only deceptor is too short ranged and inprecise, would prefer Terminator style mini gun

Hope raise of heavies will come.

In citadels, I’ve used a GL-armed heavy with a back-up Deceptor for close defense to very good effect. When the Scylla rushes you, it helps a lot to get the shred & damage from the Deceptor. Juice it up with MfD and you get 100 extra damage.

People want the Deceptor to be more generally useful, but I think it’s only intended to be a close defense weapon. Heavies are designed to primarily engage at close range.

For example, if firing it is one AP you could rocket jump and kill a unit by its close fire. A unit which is 20 paces away! So maybe making its fire rate cheaper is a solution

I jump to first get into position and slow nearby enemy with war cry, or perhaps bash something to death. Firing a weapon happens on the next turn. I don’t expect to be able to jump and fire a heavy weapon on the same turn.

For a close encounter, you need to able to go fast and shoot faster. Heavy is slow and weapons are slower. This is the problem. As the heavy armor is not heavy enough, if you go close to enemy and can’t kill it, you will get harmed very badly.

Wc is a good even very very good skill which should be nerfed at least for range. It’s very powerful against big enemies too. So it’s not fair.

Another problem is ai. It’s coded to attack to less armored target. So even you close to enemy with your heavy and you try to tank enemies, they will just pass you or shoot your weaker solderies at back. It’s a wise movement but not well for game play.

Well, if you use Rockets (NJ tech) Fury 2 at mounted points (or other mounted points),
use later on flame thrower or early available granade launcher, I find it to be quite long distance unit.

There are other mount point weapons available later, so just use Cannon instead of Deceptor until.
And granade launcher. Dont outclass em because single weapons weakness.

Also it comes handy when combating multiple NJ heavies its so clumsy and has low spotting area on over-watch. Imagine giving their heavies some wonder rifle, they could be marvelous opponents, like some of enhanced heavies in game with Pure and similar display.

I’m afraid that your theory is disproven by my practice. I get excellent results with my heavies at close range — they are regularly my top performers. Then again, I have a very aggressive style of play; I prefer to get in close. I use assaults to support the heavies so that they are not isolated against multiple enemies.

The heavy armor is good enough to protect them well against light weapons at anything but close range, which is really all that you should expect.

I won’t repeat myself. Already write tons of things about those. I would like to see a game play video for that style of game play. I want to see it how success.

I see some people multiclass it with sniper to get accuracy and dont even change armour to keep it heavy.

I’ve never done a video, but am not opposed to it. Any suggestions for Mac software for it?

Have no MacOS, but unless this video lies, seems Quick Time and OS can do it with no additional software

Surely, you will miss video editing, but quite enough to put something quick to You Tube or Daily Motion.

Hehe we’re going in circles here!! As @drages said, these topics were ‘heavily’ (derp!) discussed in this very thread and others.

However…

This video is from the release version of the game, when quick aim gave a bonus to accuracy.

Oh yes, thing change. Found out super class is actually berserker plus assault

Could go to berserk discussion

It is an old video too.
This Terminator exists in the current version too, but somewhat limited through rework of dash, electrical reinforcement.
This kind of build still has overwhelming power but not to clear the whole map alone anymore, maybe half map.
