Yes, but it’s unlikely. There are certain POI’s that can cause damage to the aircraft. Not enough to destroy it, unless it’s already severely damaged. They can be repaired in flight with materials. I would assume the units onboard would be lost of it’s destroyed.

Nope, even if everybody in the team dies the craft will be OK.
Also a damaged aircraft gets repaired at base. I expect the next DLC, Festering Skies, will revamp all that.
