Personal feedback of the new Tutoral (v1.9 - Polaris) - SPOILER

Tried it today. Really like it

  • Gives sense how first squad assembled, with all research, experience and even kills listed
  • Gives sense how we got first base and why we are looking for a leader
  • Hell, you even know where those extra ammo and resources come from, good idea!
  • Teaches most important things to newcomers
  • Adds overall game immersion.

Too bad its not avail on legendary, just finding less soldiers

Hahha, havent paid attention to this small detail, I change names and put them under armor, so becomes irrelevant.

Maybe a consequence of original BB campaign where those who paid extra get their names in, and now all combos of names and surnames are possible, whereby generation does not know of M-F

I haven’t played the game since my last vacation during the Blood and Titanium release. I gotta say, the tutorial feels a lot more compelling in terms of introducing the story elements and the basic mechanic.

I was only going for a quick peak because I don’t have time to play a full campaign, but ended up playing the whole tutorial until the wee hours of the night…

Wish I had time to play, even though some here indicate that there might be bugs yet to be resolved. For the few hours I played it seems more polished.

Nope, I guess the backers chose if they wanted male or female. However those that I listed were the pre-made chars from the tutorial.

Hello
I am new in the Phoenix Point (PP) on steam, just bought it on stem week ago, but I really like it, so I want to join official forum and contribute with my feedback

My favourite games, which I completed are Firaxis’s XCOM, Fallout Tactics, Darkest Dungeon, or Hard West, a bit similar game style with PP

This new tutorial was a real introduction of the PP for me, never played this game before
The demonstrations of game mechanics and hints are very good designated, I really learned from it, how does the game work.

but the 2 thing are missing in my opinion -
1/ I could not know, how (where) to recruit new soldiers, took long time to discover it, first I see “haven recruitment” technology, than I discovered training facility building at Phoenix base, and than finally a button with possibility to recruit soldiers from home base

2/ another thing, what took very long time for me to discover, was a mechanism, how POI on geoscape serves as a “gasstation” for your aircraft, (BTW I do not see any sense  )

Hello and welcome

Two good points, maybe these should also be handled by the tutorial, at least the second one with the fuel.
The first one about recruiting is maybe too early for the tutorial but AFAIK there should be some popup-infos when the recruitment protocols are researched.
If you want to look deeper into some mechanism about the game I can highly recommend to visit the wiki-site and especially the tutorial there (Getting Started - wiki.phoenixpoint.com).

Good luck in your first campaign!

I am excited about the manual. Actually, the game itself should explain to you how it works. If I have to read a wiki then the game is not quite ready.

Yes, explantation for newcomers is a big weak point of the game, even when it is much better right now then to the release.
Thanks to some enthusiasts, especially @Voland, but not only him, at least we have this really good tutorial. I don’t see how you could bring all this content into the game itself, it’s just a lot, maybe somewhere in the ‘Phoenixpedia’ (?).
