I backed with signature mod and super excited when I found this game - just got it a couple days ago and so far the release is awesome.

Unfortunately, I didn’t go back and read every post (it would take too long). I’m 44 years old and been playing X-COM since it came out…trying not to compare the two games because I’ve already noticed things in here that I wish the old X-COM had (move-shoot-move is epic)…so that’s enough of the X word 🙂 I also can’t keep up with all of the new gaming mechanics and don’t play games for hours on end like I used to, so maybe I’m just slow.

\*Anyway, maybe the game is just not optimized for video yet. Runs pretty choppy on my rig (specs below, I built it), maybe it is time to upgrade the mobo and processor and video card. Running game in UHD 3480x2160.

\*You need way too much ammo to take out an enemy base, I have yet to do it because I always run out of bullets (anyone else having this problem?)
\*Customization of characters, is there going to be a way to change their faces, voices, etc…
\*Watching the pre-alpha demo build from E3, those menus were much better than what’s in the current mod (showing to hit chance, to damage chance, etc)
\*I haven’t been able to target body parts with the sniper
\*The inventory system is very archaic, would be easier to right click to swap items etc…
\*I have found crates I cannot physically get to, has anyone blown up the floor so a crate drops yet?

That’s just some quick observations.

I would say that your graphic card is too old to support this resolution. But remember that the game was not optimised yet, so it may run final release smooth. Other specs should be also fine. Phoenix Point is turn based and is not Witcher 3 or Crisis to choke your computer. 😉

- Take at least 2 spare magazines for each weapon and you should be fine.
- Remember that you don’t have to kill all enemies in alien base (objective in upper left corner is misleading)
- Use proper guns for proper enemies 😉

There will be customization of appearance, but I think it is waste of development time.

This will probably change - current UI is just for testing of Backers Build purposes

So you have strange bug. Sniper can target the same way as other classes.

This will definitely change, don’t worry. They test it in their current development build

They levitate the same way as turrets. Currently you need to pay attention to not blow the path to the crate.

Thanks Yokes.

I have been debating on getting a new video card, maybe it is time 🙂

For the ability to target body parts…I thought only a sniper could do it? I went back and re-read the game guide and I see you have to be in free aiming mode, so I’ll go back and try it.

I agree with you on things like customization of appearance. It is probably a waste of time now, but I do look forward to it.

Fun game so far.

In videos of the older builds, especially the first Backer Build, the sniper had an ability that allowed them to lock onto a body part and disable it. That ability has been removed. No idea on its current status

My 970m on my laptop handled BB1 and 2 just fine (I’ve given up on BB3 downloading), so if you’re having issues it’s probably a combination of the game not being optimized and that resolution of yours.

Any game is going to be a major performance hog when running at 4k. As Phoenix Point hasn’t been optimised yet, performance issues will be more severe. I don’t believe the issue is the age of the card, but more likely the 4gb of dedicated video memory. Textures and post-processing effects can use a lot of video ram. This increases as the resolution does.

For example (as I came across this 2 nights ago), the new Resident Evil 2 remake on max settings was using just under 7gb of video ram, and that was only running 1920x1080. For 4k (or multiple monitor setup), you really need a minimum of 6gb dedicated vram.

UnstableVoltage - I’m using it as an excuse to get a new video card, 1080 ti 😛
