Another delay is unfortunate, if not totally unexpected. We have written about ot several times, and now I understand why I felt another delay was coming down the line. For a game almost on the verge of release, there was no hype surrounding it. The forums didn’t have much forth and back, and the Discord had seen busier times. If not for the backers, there was no outside interest. But with the release of both Syn and Anu updates, well… Here’s waiting for BB5.

As someone who has just bought phoenix point in its current state I was worried that a month seemed a little short to get all the various bits together and tested.
So if you guys need more time then take it we will have a better game for it :)… I’m also looking forward to the new backer build in September

Well, not really. We only paid for a finished product. Developers will decide when it will be finished and then it will be released. Date is not set in stone. If the game will be better thanks to that then why not… I just need to re-schedule my long leave from beginning of September to December. 😉 Backers Build 5 will be tested in the my spare time until then.

From the very start I didn’t believe both in July release and then September release ) And I’m not really sure even about 2019 release at all, remember my words -))
But its okay entirely, I always welcome a decision to make better game if it is possible to do so.

I’ll just echo what others have said; I’m not really fussed about the delays, better than when a game releases and isn’t complete/polished. Take your time (if money affords it) and make the game that you want to make.

Launch is going to be critical because we all know plenty of people are going to try and pick this game apart for obvious reasons. So yeah not too surprised by this decision.

Curious if this means Steam release delay as well or if since backer launch is the same date it stays the same?
Also, maybe shoulda used some of that Epic deal money to hire some people…

The Steam release will be one year from the launch of the full game on Epic.

Oh, thank god. I was so afraid you would go through with releasing a glorified backer build as a “full game” and then “improve it” with content patches. You would get such crappy reviews and reputation and it would stick. That would mean no PP2 and result in less PP1 overall and nobody wants that.

Will backersbuild 5 be available for all backers on fig or only those on higher tier?
If not, please consider since the delay is reaching 1 year now and kinda feels unfair. If you give acces to all backers i dont mind waiting another year for a final version. I assume the game is already in a near finished state.

Ok so this is good news for early-acces buyers only. Now it sounds like there is an upside to this story for every backer.
I chose my tier based on a release date of which i thought i could sit out. But it keeps growing, and no guarentee this is the last delay. Don’t you feel backers who didn’t choose ‘early-acces’ should have right to play the beta about now ~1 year after promised delivery date? At a certain point it grows unfair.
I guess its ok now, whats another 3 more months… But please please consider this if there is another delay in future…

The game that is finally released should be really something memorable. I trust Julian perhaps more than I should, but it is not like my life depends upon it. OTOH, Julian’s livelihood & reputation does depend upon the quality of this final release, so I’m not overly concerned. At age 71, waiting is not something you do comfortably any more, but so be it. Better to live with a positive outlook than a negative one, I say.

But that would be unfair to those who have paid extra. 😉
Listen, if you really want to play bugged backers build before game release you can always buy game second time, but this time on higher tier. It will show how much passionate you are and how you can’t wait to use Rage Burst with Hel Cannon! 👽

No it would not be unfair to them. In what world would that be unfair…
You backed for early beta access with a release date in 2018. That has been stretched considerably. So that has been more than fullfilled. All backers should already have fullfilment by now. That is called fair, nothing else.

Gears 5 and Borderlands 3 are both released in September 😉.
That’s why Mechwarrior 5 won’t be released according to Russ Bullock (President Piranha Games) if you want to believe him. Oh and yes - it is another game I backed which is now an Epic Store exclusive. This is Offtopic though.
The EGS has another 4-5 months time now. Maybe you’ll get cloudsaves till then. I doubt that the mod support will be ready (this genre needs mods) and don’t even think about achievements.
Nevertheless have fun with BB5 and good luck with the release on February 2020 😜

I’m actually quite relieved by this news! September did seem like too soon of a launch date. December, right around the Christmas rush, is both a better time market-wise for release and it will give you guys the time you need to polish things up. I’ll still play the game, as I’m sure many others will.
