What if there was a range in which your squad's LOS was limited based on facing direction? This could allow mutants to sneak up and scare the shit out of you on the occasion! Cool right?
The way i could see this being implemented controls wise:
1) Player selects tile to move with mouse
If player holds mouse button down, you get an option to choose which direction they'll face. Once you let go, they move to position, with their soldier orientated in that direction.
This could be made to have them face orthogonally and diagonally, and the blindspot would just be this tiny area behind them.
I wouldn't honestly care for the detail in which frozen synapse does it (they simulate LOS while strafing and the like) just make the LOS account for everything but directly behind them.
This could also have some sweet implications for abilities such as overwatch.
