Ideas for future games that might be fun with the Phoenix Point gameplay engine?

Imagine if the Pandoravirus and its mutagenic mist landed on a fantasy world where there are magic and creatures like what Snapshot Games produced already with Chaos Reborn? I.e., Pandoravirus vs. Magic Users rather than science?

Or perhaps the Pandoravirus might land on a Steampunk fantasy world like the Arcanum of old where magic and science are already in competition with each other?

Obviously we need Phoenix Point: To the Stars, where we fight off the Pandora virus in space and on Yuggoth

I sort of want to see what they could do with a roguelike adventure rpg.

The battle system and LITE strategy elements of chaos reborn's realm mode, just barely miss that sweet spot. I think it's because chaos' battle system dynamics (The start with nothing--->fill the map with creatures) as well as (Binary RNG causing yes/no deaths and outcomes) effectively remove alot of the more longterm strategic elements of a typical rpg or strategy game.

I guess to extrapolate on that: in chaos realms, the enemie's reinforcements is more of a difficulty modifier for that one off battle (more creatures = more difficult) while mercs and villagers are just difficulty modifiers (more stuff you start with, the easier it is)

As opposed to games like your xcoms, homm's, etc that treat your units and troops like resources that you must manage over the course of the game. in chaos realms, they're more just difficulty modifiers as the nature of the game is made to have these 'highest difficulty' matches to be beatable without the mercs and what have you.

Though I love the way in which players can easily create content, and how the player can go have a meaty strategy experience in playing it (in this part the robust tactical layer of chaos reborn)

I feel if you could recreate a similarly rich and fast paced battle system and combine it with a minimalistic strategic layer, that allows for as many interesting variables as chaos reborn's battle system, you could have a real hit.

Honestly, i feel chaos reborn's current realm mode could do the trick if it had enough tweaks (ex. some way to revive mercs as they die)

But suppose if their was a way to create a sort of lite strategy rpg game, that expanded upon what works in chaos

-the fast paced battles

-the non fiddly strategic layers

-the ally/invader system

-a story telling platform.

=)

My dream game would be a fantasy game with the base building and tactical turn based style mechanics.

Ideally this could go like this, some "end of life" event occurs and the few humans survivors take refuge in the caves to escape.

There they lost almost all the technological progress and after some centuries their decedents emerge from the cave to a very mutate/different world.

Few in number they must relearn what they forgot, rediscovery lost castles, skills etc.

=)

I mean it could be. Or an expansion. Or a separate game. You know, whatever.

I'd love to see the underwater environment as an expansion if it doesn't make it into the main release, though a sequel taking the war into the solar system/yuggoth would be sweet... maybe some classic ssi buck rogers thrown in with ship to ship boarding actions and such.

For a long time I have been dreaming about Mafia xcom game. Or maybe xcom mafia. You could play Eliot Ness' Untouchables FBI force trying to take down Capone. Raiding his warehouses.
